Al Jazeera assholes

None of Al Jazeera’s news articles refer to the terrorists who attacked Mumbai in November 2008 as terrorists. They are referred to as “attackers”, “fighters” and “people” but never as terrorists. This article shamelessly puts the word terrorists in quotes:

RK Raghavan, a former chief of India’s Central Bureau of Investigation, pointed to claims that the police have seized a mobile phone which the “terrorists” used for communication with unidentified contacts in Pakistan.

Treasury Secretary Ron Paul

Here’s why Ron Paul is a good choice for Treasury Secretary:

  1. The guy understands economics better than any non-economist politician Obama will choose.
  2. He is not afraid of taking the right stand – even if it’s a difficult stand.
  3. He clearly recognizes the problem with government bureaucrats setting the price of money.
  4. He recognizes the problems of indiscriminately increasing the supply of money.

Unfortunately, politics comes first. So there’s no way Ron Paul is going to be named the Secretary of the Treasury. Obama’s a smart politician. And then being a democrat has some ideological baggage of its own, some of it good and some not so good. But he’s got all the smart people advising him – Paul Volcker included. Let’s hope something good comes out of it. My gut says there’s nothing these people can do, though.

Yahoo’s lousy job identifying spam

So I sent an e-mail from my Yahoo ID to myself at the same Yahoo ID using Yahoo’s online interface and the e-mail never reached me. I found out later that it went to my spam folder. WTF?

And the e-mail did not even have hyperlinks.
